Killing is a grave sin, but for Dexter, it is the right thing to do for those who deserve it.

Unlike most drama series, Dexter is a television program which centers on a secret serial killer Dexter Morgan (Michael Hall), who works as a forensic bloodstain patter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department. The show debuted on Showtime and began airing in the same network every Sunday, 9:00 in the evening. This crime thriller television series follows the life of Dexter who was orphaned at the age of three and was adopted by the Miami police officer Harry Morgan (James Remar) and his loving wife, Dorris. During Dexter’s childhood, Harry observed that he behaves differently and suspected him from being a psychopath after killing their neighbors’ pets. Upon noticing this, he taught Dexter “the Code” where he needs to pattern his killing. In this code, Dexter must only kill killers themselves who killed guiltless people and tends to do their crimes again. Dexter must also prove first that the criminals are guilty, and that he should never get caught by the authorities while doing the crime. Though Harry is already dead, his presence still hunts Dexter every time he does the killing, just to remind him of the code’s provisions. Flashbacks throughout the series shows Harry instructing Dexter on how to appear normal, fake his emotions and cover his tracks. Dexter follows the Code religiously, and just like many serial killers, he also keeps a sort of remembrance from his victims by getting a blood sample from them and keeping it in a blood slide. He then keeps his collection in his air conditioning unit.
